The Shift

Autonomous driving solves the driving task. Fleet operations remain.

Drivers historically perform far more than driving.

They notice when a vehicle is dirty. They identify damage. They respond to a flat tire, retrieve lost property, manage fueling or charging, recognize when something is wrong, and resolve countless small physical-world exceptions.

As vehicles become autonomous, those responsibilities do not disappear.

They migrate.

AGO believes the systems that absorb those responsibilities will become an increasingly important part of the autonomous mobility ecosystem.

The Market

A different kind of fleet may be emerging.

Autonomous mobility may extend beyond a small number of vertically integrated operators.

Future fleets could be owned by:

  • autonomous vehicle manufacturers
  • large fleet operators
  • hotels and resorts
  • airports and campuses
  • dealerships
  • institutional asset owners
  • small businesses
  • independent operators
  • individuals managing only a few autonomous vehicles

Large fleets can justify dedicated operating infrastructure. Smaller fleets cannot.

Distributed ownership may therefore create demand for shared operational infrastructure.

The Opportunity

The opportunity is not the depot. It's the network.

AGO is exploring a model that combines three layers:

Physical Infrastructure

Mobility hubs and qualified service nodes positioned around autonomous fleet demand.

Operational Standards

Repeatable intervention, inspection, readiness, and return-to-service processes.

Orchestration

A future digital layer connecting fleet requirements with the appropriate physical response.

Together, those layers could form an operating network capable of supporting autonomous assets across multiple owners, platforms, and markets.

Why Now

The ecosystem is being defined now.

As autonomous vehicles move from technology demonstration toward commercial deployment, the questions are beginning to change.

The industry has spent years asking:

Can the vehicle drive itself?

The next questions may be:

  • Who operates everything around it?
  • Who supports independently owned autonomous fleets?
  • Where do vehicles go when software alone cannot resolve the problem?
  • Who owns the physical operating layer?

AGO is developing AVOS around those questions.

Proving Ground

Phoenix is one of the most active autonomous mobility markets in the United States and offers a compelling environment to study the density, infrastructure, service requirements, and economics that may define this emerging category.

AGO is evaluating Phoenix / Scottsdale as the initial market for testing the AVOS operating thesis.

We are interested in what comes after autonomy.
